First ordered to series in 2019, Secrets of the Mogwai serves as an origin story and prequel to the 1984 movie that is set in 1920s Shanghai, where a young Sam Wing first encounters Gizmo. The rebranded HBO Max-now just "Max"-launches today, and along with it comes the premiere of the streamer's long-in-development animated spinoff from the Gremlins film franchise. Two episodes stream weekly, and a second season has already been ordered. Mitra Jouhari, Sam Richardson, Mo Gaffney, Al Madrigal, Danny Pudi, Mandy Moore, Michael Bolton, Ian Ziering, and Kelvin Yu.
